Short on time but set on the real Sahara? This private 2-day tour takes you from Marrakech to the tall orange dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga and back. Be ready for two long road days: the drive crosses the High Atlas, the Draa and Dades valleys and the palm groves of Tafilalet, with stops for photos, lunch and coffee. You arrive in time to ride a camel into the dunes at sunset and spend the night in a desert camp with dinner, drums and a sky full of stars. Next morning you watch the sunrise over the sand before the road back to Marrakech. If you can add a day, our 3-day tour is more relaxed.

    Day 1: Marrakech to the Merzouga dunes

    Early start over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, past Ouarzazate, the Dades valley and Tinghir to Merzouga. Camel ride into the dunes at sunset and night in a desert camp.

    Day 2: Merzouga to Marrakech

    Sunrise over Erg Chebbi, breakfast at camp, then the long scenic drive back over the High Atlas to Marrakech, arriving in the evening.
