This 9-day tour is for travellers who want to really know southern Morocco, not just drive through it. From Casablanca you reach Marrakech, then cross the High Atlas to sleep at Ait Ben Haddou. Two nights in the Dades valley give you time for a guided walk among the 'monkey fingers' rock formations and Berber villages. You then spend a night by the Todra Gorge, walking between its towering walls in the morning light, before the oasis road leads to Merzouga for two nights, with a camel trek and a desert camp. A long but beautiful drive brings you back to Marrakech, then Casablanca. Fewer cities, more landscapes.

    Day 1: Casablanca to Marrakech

    Pick-up in Casablanca and drive to Marrakech. Evening on Jemaa el-Fna. Night in Marrakech.

    Day 2: High Atlas to Ait Ben Haddou

    Tizi n'Tichka pass and Telouet kasbah, then Ait Ben Haddou for sunset. Night near the ksar.

    Day 3: Skoura and the Valley of Roses

    Ouarzazate, the palm oasis of Skoura and Kasbah Amridil, Kelaat M'Gouna and its roses, then the Dades valley. Night in the Dades valley.

    Day 4: Walking day in the Dades

    Guided walk among the monkey fingers rock formations and Berber villages, picnic and tea with a family. Night in the Dades valley.

    Day 5: Todra Gorge

    Short drive to the Todra Gorge, walk between the cliffs and visit the palm groves of Tinghir. Night by the gorge.

    Day 6: Oasis road to Merzouga

    Through Tinjdad and Erfoud to Merzouga, at the foot of Erg Chebbi. Relax at the hotel pool and sunset on the dunes. Night in Merzouga.

    Day 7: Desert day and camel trek

    4x4 tour of Khamlia and the nomad camps, then a sunset camel trek to a Berber camp. Night in the desert.

    Day 8: Back to Marrakech

    Sunrise over the dunes, then a long drive west via Alnif, Ouarzazate and the High Atlas to Marrakech. Night in Marrakech.

    Day 9: Marrakech to Casablanca

    Free morning in Marrakech, then drive to Casablanca. Drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
