This 9-day tour from Casablanca combines Morocco's royal cities with the great landscapes of the south. After the Hassan II Mosque and Rabat, you visit Meknes and Volubilis and spend two nights in Fes with a guided day in the medina. Crossing the Middle Atlas, you reach Merzouga for two nights: one at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes and one in a Berber camp after a camel ride. The road west follows the Todra and Dades gorges and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to Ait Ben Haddou, where you sleep near the ksar, before crossing the High Atlas to Marrakech and returning to Casablanca.     Day 1: Casablanca and Rabat

    Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, then Rabat: Kasbah of the Udayas, Hassan Tower and Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Night in Rabat.

    Day 2: Meknes, Volubilis and Fes

    Bab Mansour gate in Meknes, the Roman ruins of Volubilis and Moulay Idriss, then Fes. Night in Fes.

    Day 3: Guided day in Fes

    Licensed guide in the medina: madrasas, tanneries, souks and the Royal Palace gates. Night in Fes.

    Day 4: Fes to Merzouga

    Drive through Ifrane, the cedar forest of Azrou, Midelt and the Ziz valley to Merzouga. Night in a hotel facing the dunes.

    Day 5: Desert day and camel trek

    Morning to explore Khamlia and its Gnawa music or relax. At sunset, camel ride into Erg Chebbi and night in a Berber camp.

    Sunrise on the dunes, then the Todra Gorge and the zigzag road of the Dades valley. Night in the Dades valley.
