Ait Ben Haddou is the picture of Morocco many people dream of: a fortified village of earthen houses climbing a hill above a river, used as a set for films and series like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. This private day trip from Marrakech crosses the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka pass, at 2,260 metres, with stops at viewpoints and Berber villages. At Ait Ben Haddou a local guide takes you across the river and up through the lanes of the ksar to the granary at the top, with views over the desert plain. After lunch you continue to Ouarzazate to see the Taourirt kasbah or the Atlas film studios, before driving back over the mountains.

    Pick-up at 8 am, over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Ait Ben Haddou. Guided visit of the ksar, lunch, then Ouarzazate and its kasbah or film studios. Return to Marrakech around 7 pm.
