If you have one week and want to see the best of Morocco, this private tour is the perfect loop. From Marrakech you cross the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Ait Ben Haddou and follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Gorge. Then come the Todra Gorge and the Sahara: you ride a camel into the dunes of Erg Chebbi and spend two nights near Merzouga, with a full day to explore the desert by 4x4, visit a nomad family and hear Gnawa music in Khamlia. Heading north, you cross the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, where Barbary macaques live, to Fes, where a licensed guide shows you the oldest medina in the world, its tanneries and madrasas. On the way back you visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial city of Meknes, spend a night in Rabat, the elegant capital, and see the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca before returning to Marrakech. Every kilometre is driven by the same private driver, at your pace.
