Five days is the sweet spot for a desert tour from Marrakech: enough time to see the Sahara and the great kasbah valleys without long days in the car. You spend the first night at Ait Ben Haddou, the second in the Dades valley, and the third in a desert camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes after a sunset camel trek. The return takes a different road, through Khamlia, Alnif and the Draa valley to Ouarzazate, where you spend the fourth night. On the last day you cross the High Atlas back to Marrakech. Every night is in a different landscape, and each day brings something new.

    Day 1: Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou

    Over the Tizi n'Tichka pass and the kasbah of Telouet to Ait Ben Haddou. Sunset over the ksar. Night at Ait Ben Haddou.

    Day 2: Ait Ben Haddou to the Dades valley

    Ouarzazate, the palm grove of Skoura and the Valley of Roses to the Dades valley and its gorge. Night in the Dades valley.

    Day 3: Todra Gorge to Merzouga

    Walk in the Todra Gorge, then Tinghir, Erfoud and Rissani to Merzouga. Camel trek at sunset and night in a desert camp.

    Day 4: Merzouga to Ouarzazate

    Sunrise over the dunes, Gnawa music in Khamlia, then Alnif, Nekob and the Draa valley to Ouarzazate. Night in Ouarzazate.

    Day 5: Ouarzazate to Marrakech

    Visit of the Taourirt kasbah or the film studios, then over the High Atlas back to Marrakech.
