This is the fastest way to travel from Fes to Marrakech with a night in the real Sahara. On day one you leave Fes through Ifrane and the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, then follow the Ziz valley south to Merzouga, arriving for a camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes and a night in a desert camp. Day two is a long but spectacular drive: after sunrise you pass Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, the Dades valley and Ouarzazate, then cross the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Marrakech.
