Taroudant Day Trip from Agadir: The 'Little Marrakech' and Tiout Oasis

Taroudant is often called 'Little Marrakech', but it is quieter, friendlier and much less touristy. Its six kilometres of ochre ramparts, among the best preserved in Morocco, surround a lively town where daily life goes on as it has for centuries. On this private day trip from Agadir, you first drive across the fertile Souss plain, with its orange groves and argan trees. In Taroudant you can ride around the ramparts in a horse-drawn calèche, then explore the two main souks: the Arab souk, with spices, leather and silver jewellery, and the Berber souk, where farmers sell their produce. You also see the tanneries outside the walls, smaller and calmer than in Fes. After lunch you continue to Tiout, a palm oasis at the foot of the Anti-Atlas with a ruined kasbah on the hill and a beautiful view over the palms and the mountains. Return to Agadir in the late afternoon.
