Marrakech is one of the few cities in the world where you can sleep in a real palace, wake up to birdsong in a hidden courtyard garden, and be in the middle of the souks ten minutes later. Choosing where to stay shapes your whole trip, so we put together this guide to the city's best luxury hotels and riads, with honest price ranges and the tips our team gives every traveler.
Quick overview: what does luxury cost in Marrakech?
Palace hotels (5-star): roughly €600–€3,000+ per night
High-end boutique riads: roughly €250–€900 per night
Comfortable mid-range riads: roughly €80–€250 per night
Prices are indicative and vary a lot by season, room type and availability. Always check the latest rate before booking.
The iconic palace hotels
Royal Mansour
Built by the King of Morocco as a showcase of Moroccan craftsmanship, Royal Mansour has no ordinary rooms: every guest stays in a private multi-level riad with its own courtyard and rooftop plunge pool. Underground service tunnels mean staff appear almost invisibly. It is the most exclusive address in the city. From about €1,500 per night.
La Mamounia
Open since 1923, La Mamounia is a legend: Art Deco and Moorish design, centuries-old gardens full of olive and orange trees, and a guest book that has included Winston Churchill. Its location just inside the medina walls makes it perfect for walking to Jemaa el-Fna. From about €700 per night.
Four Seasons Resort Marrakech
Set in landscaped gardens in the Hivernage district, the Four Seasons is the best palace-style choice for families, with large pools, a kids' club and tennis courts, while still being a short ride from the medina. From about €600 per night.
Mandarin Oriental & The Oberoi
Both sit outside the city center among olive groves, with spacious villas and private pools facing the Atlas Mountains. Ideal for honeymoons and travelers who want calm and privacy. From about €800–€900 per night.
Amanjena
Aman's pink pavilions and reflecting pools in the Palmeraie offer a quiet, spa-focused retreat inspired by Moroccan and Andalusian architecture. From about €1,000 per night.
The best boutique riads
El Fenn: colorful, art-filled riad with several pools and one of the best rooftop terraces in the medina (from about €300).
Villa des Orangers: a Relais & Châteaux riad with a rooftop pool, a few minutes' walk from Jemaa el-Fna (from about €450).
Riad Kniza: an 18th-century family home with carved cedar ceilings and very personal service (from about €250).
La Maison Arabe & Riad Farnatchi: intimate, elegant addresses known for great food and attentive hosts.
Which neighborhood should you choose?
Medina: best for first-time visitors who want atmosphere and to walk everywhere.
Hivernage & Gueliz: modern, quieter, easy taxis, restaurants and nightlife.
Palmeraie & outskirts: space, gardens and privacy; you will need a driver to reach the city.
When to book
High season runs from October to April, when the weather is ideal and rates can be 30–50% higher. Book three to six months ahead for these dates, especially around Christmas and Easter. May, June and September are great shoulder months. July and August are very hot, but many luxury hotels offer strong discounts.
Insider tips from the Travsus team
Tourist tax: a small city tax per person per night is usually paid in cash at checkout and is often not included in online prices.
Cars can't enter the medina: porters carry your bags with carts, and riads often have steep stairs. Mention it if you travel with elderly relatives or a stroller.
Winter pools: rooftop plunge pools are often unheated, so ask before you book if swimming matters to you.
Book direct: riads often reward direct bookings with airport transfers or upgrades.
